Yousheng opened his reputation by hosting the travel show "Adventure King", but rather than hosting the Adventure King, it is better to say that he himself is an adventure king. (Recommended reading: Visit Lesotho!) Interview with Yousheng: "Paying for others is true wealth")
He loves nature and outdoor adventure, and has traveled to every state in the world, from Taiwan to Oceania, from North America to Africa. The most recent adventure is to challenge yourself to the uninhabited South Pole. However, after returning to Taiwan from Antarctica, Yousheng decided to "return to his family", he worked hard, worked hard to earn money, let the whole family move into a mansion together, and sent his children to top schools.
Life seems to return to the ordinary, although there is less adventurous mentality, but it is also tranquil and happy. But after a year of living, he began to realize that something was wrong.
He said, the world is so big, why do I frame myself in what I heard about "a beautiful life"? I heard, who did I listen to? Who can be sure that living in a mansion and attending a top school is the best for a child? He has doubts about the legendary good life, he is not sure if it is what he wants, and he is not sure if it is what he wants for his children.
So, he sold the house and prepared to start a new life for the Adventure King's family.
Perhaps, we don't need a mansion, as long as the family is together
He set up the Youtube channel "Where is Yousheng going", originally planning to record the appearance of traveling the world with his children, but he was unable to go abroad due to the impact of the epidemic. Although it was a pity, he thought about it and said, "How do I think the United States, Australia, and New Zealand are places worth getting to know my children? What about other places? What about Taiwan?" So I decided to take advantage of the gap between the children before they went to elementary school, take the family, drive a camper, and explore all over Taiwan to find the most suitable lifestyle for them.
In the first week of his official departure, Yousheng set the rules of camping life: no indoor space, no 3C products, and no outside food.
The purpose of not using indoor space other than toilets is to get the family used to living in the wild. Who knows if the future journey will go to the wilderness with no indoor facilities at all? He wants the whole family's wilderness survival skills to be cultivated and trained from now on.
Do not use large 3C products larger than "tablet computers", including computers, TVs, projectors, etc. In order to fully immerse themselves in nature and explore together, what would a family be interested in without technology? What new insights will you have into life?
The rule of not eating outside food and cooking as much as possible is to distinguish yourself from your past self. Yousheng said that in the past, living in the city, the family almost didn't cook, and the meals were delivered. However, after leaving the city, they began to connect with nature and, of course, rely on their own food to obtain food.
No one knows what will happen until they hit the road. This is the adventure diary that belongs to the Yousheng family, set the rules, and set off immediately.
I want to know where my limits and my children are
The Yosheng family's wild life has just passed the first week, and in the film "I want to give up the next day?! The first week of camper life exposed! You can see many of their family's exploration and curiosity about nature. For example, her daughter Lei Lei and her son are not afraid of strangers and unknowns, and they stride forward to find the plum tree, and Yousheng does not interrupt the process of the child's exploration, does not lead, only assists on the side. For example, they crossed a hillside together, found a plum tree, looked carefully, studied together, and practiced being full of perception of the things around them.
The family was in the mountains, and in the days when they were isolated from the city, they climbed the mountains, fed the fish, and picked fruits. Practice enjoying the blank space and facing boredom on days when you have nothing to do. The two children were also able to "have nothing to do" scooping leaves, talking to grapefruit flowers, and collecting stones. In the lap of nature, they enjoy themselves.
Seeing that the children were bored, Yousheng did not find a way to amuse them, but picked up the camera casually and recorded what they were doing for themselves. Daughter Lei Lei asked him, are you recording? He said, "I want to see what you do when you're bored."
Perhaps, this is a lesson that can be learned from life in the wild - if you know that life is boring, but you can find a center of gravity for yourself and something to do for yourself at such a time, then it may mean that you can adapt to the environment and change yourself to adapt to the environment, you are flexible in life, and you are always willing to find solutions.
After the video was released, netizens had different opinions on Yousheng's parenting methods, and he also posted a response on Facebook:
We wanted to complete an important experiment: how can we make both ourselves and our children happier?
In this world, there has never been a standard method. From upbringing concepts to values, we can't be sure of what is absolutely right, nor can we judge what is absolutely necessary, but if we don't explore, don't ask questions, don't try to find answers. Time passed, and we were still in the same place, not knowing anything. (Recommended reading: Life is to challenge yourself with Tetris, don't play like you play chess)
Therefore, Yosheng's approach may provide us with a concept of life - the courage to find answers to our own questions. Not only for parents, from freshmen who have just come out of society to middle-aged people who have entered the second half of their lives, they can choose, and they can also choose, construct their own worldview in their own way, and at the same time find a suitable lifestyle for themselves.
Once you're on the road, you'll know if you'll fall in love with the scenery.
