World Vision has launched a 1,000-moment campaign to change the world, looking forward to finding funders for 1,000 vulnerable girls at home and abroad to help girls who are now in trouble ahead of this year's International Girls' Day. This time, we interviewed the spokesman Ren Rongxuan to talk about the importance of girls' strength.

The first time I saw Ren Rongxuan, it was at a press conference. Dressed in a simple T-shirt and denim skirt, her eyes were round and she had a smile on her face, and she had the temperament of a girl next door. During the interview, she sat diagonally diagonally with me, and whenever she thought about it, she would often put her hands on her pink insulation bottle and focus on each question.

The fate of Ren Rongxuan and this event can be said from international girls' day. On 11 October, the International Day for Girls, first established by the United Nations, called on countries to pay attention to the rights and interests of girls and to eliminate unequal treatment of girls. Taiwan, where we are located, also followed suit in 2013 by declaring it "Taiwan Girls' Day" to promote action.

The human rights of girls are the human rights of women and the human rights of children. In a gender-unequal society, many women are still oppressed because of their gender, and even some girls may be subjected to violence from an an out-of-age perspective, but are unable to speak for themselves or have been ignored. This is also the reason why girls Peili is important, education lets them know how to defend their rights and interests, do not have to just hold back.

Empowerment.

Empowerment is most commonly translated as empowerment, but "empowerment" has the meaning of external force rather than the subject's self-growth, and is therefore gradually replaced by "pei-power/empowerment". "Pere" is not just about making individual women more confident and self-affirming, it's about empowering women to use collective power to criticize the nature of questioning power and to understand and challenge why it is owned by some people, not others. From the cognitive level, women's understanding of their own situation, understanding the social factors leading to these situations, learning new knowledge to establish a new set of understanding of gender relations, know their due power, and take action to improve unreasonable treatment. Empowerment values the "power from the inside" of power, sharing, from the awakening of individual consciousness, but also to collective consciousness and collective action.

"I want to go to school, I don't want to get married" when child marriage becomes a nightmare.

During his days as a spokesman for the program, Ren reached out to many girls at home and abroad. The closer she got, the clearer it became, whether it was the suffering of girls in the country because of their family's economic situation, or the forced acceptance of child marriage by girls abroad, which shocked her greatly.

"It's more surprising that there are things that are life-threatening. Speaking of this topic, Ren Rong frowned, expression a little heavy, "before the "child marriage" did not have much feeling, in-depth understanding, found that this not only killed their dreams, but also may cause serious harm to the body." 」

According to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), about 12 million girls under the age of 18 marry each year. So far, at least 650 million girls have not escaped child marriage.

Girls married before the age of 18 are less likely to continue in school and more likely to experience domestic violence. Teenage girls are more likely than women over the age of 20 to die from complications of pregnancy and childbirth, and are more likely to die in the stillbirth of a baby or within the first month of life.
Child marriage can lead to a lifetime of suffering. Girls who marry before they turn 18 are less likely to remain in school and more likely to experience domestic violence. At the press conference, Ren was connected to Ethiopian girl Abebech Sisay. At the end of 2019, Jabi was forced to take a break from school and marry a strange man under the arrangement of his parents, but fortunately with the help of World Vision, Jabi's parents finally realized that child marriage would do great harm to their children, thus dispelled the idea. Jabi was able to continue her schooling and move on to becoming a physician.

Education, so that every girl to find the power of voice.

This time for the girls' human rights and the right to be taught to stand up, perhaps in part because of Ren Rongrong's recognition in the process of growing up.

She mentioned her father.

"My dad used to share that in his day, education was the biggest force that changed the environment. And families are usually the first source of education for children. Ren Rongxuan, for example, once her father gave up the opportunity to work abroad, chose to stay in Taipei to accompany her family, so that the family of four feelings are very good, in the subtle, but also affect her family's imagination and values.

In fact, in the study stage, she did not find how much education affected her, until the relevant departments, only in the absorption of knowledge while reflecting, gradually appreciate.

Educating a girl is the same as educating a country.

African proverb.

Through education, let these girls know what rights they have and how to defend their lives. (Recommended reading: Malawi report: Why educating a girl is the equivalent of saving a country)

If they are brought about by the ideological transformation from a young child, they will have a better chance of bringing about change before the regret occurs. Ren Rongxuan share, with her connected girl, but also because of education to know, originally she can speak for herself, trying to change the status situation.

Sound is the greatest force.

Ren Rongrong.

I ask, is there anything we can do to do our part in Taiwan?

In this regard, Mr Ren admits that there is indeed a limit to what individuals can do. "But World Vision will have a complete system. Now, she also follows the funding plan, a fixed monthly donation of 2000 yuan to foreign girls, 700 yuan to domestic girls, as long as willing to pay the amount within the scope of capacity, can become a part of the assistance to girls at home and abroad.

"Also as a girl, I want every girl to value herself. Ren Rongxuan firmly said that her voice is very gentle, but words.
