The Women's Fan "Diversity and Inclusion Vision Award" shows how much companies at home and abroad attach importance to DEI, which positively affects not only individual employees, but also their families and society as a whole.

At the end of October 2022, the first Women's Fan Diversity and Inclusion Vision Talk (DBTA) was grandly launched, in response to the challenges faced by Taiwan's industry in the process of promoting DEI, Women's Fans formulated the 2023 Womany DEI Index three main cores: corporate vision execution, organizational/employee change power, and social diversity influence.

We aim to give awards and create change through dialogue. In the face of an increasingly competitive market environment and talent resource war, how to create a diverse, equal and inclusive (DEI) workplace environment for global and local enterprises has become the first step for enterprises to create sustainable competitiveness.

Talent becomes the key to enterprise competitiveness! Open perspectives and create contributions

As the presenter of the "Influential Foreign Enterprise Award", Yan Xiaoyou, Chairman of the Entrepreneur Co-creation Platform Foundation, mentioned in his speech at the award, "In the face of the competition of 'talent globalization', the competitive market is no longer limited to 'local', so how to cultivate, attract and retain company talents has become one of the biggest challenges in the business world."

Talent? Talent! DEI is concerned with nothing more than the rights and interests of "people" and the redefinition of what it means to be "talent"!

"DEI is one of the important trends in the next 5 or 10 years, and enterprises should not stop at the "Why" in the face of this question, but directly ask the "How": How do we practice through concrete actions? How does DEI really fit into the corporate culture?"

Yan pointed out that Taiwan's society is becoming more and more diverse, and in the past it relied on the government and NGOs to promote issues, and in the future, all enterprises should participate together, and enterprises are the most resource, capable and influential organizations in the society, if enterprises can promote and implement DEI, I believe it will make great contributions to creating a better society in Taiwan."

In this regard, Zhu Ping, founder of Ken Meng and Ripple Foundation, also deeply agreed, he believes that it is quite necessary to look at DEI issues from the perspective of young people, we are born in a society where DEI is everywhere, from ourselves, occupation, industry to society, all related to DEI, "We should feel, in life, are you open-minded enough, as a company, do you understand that you have the ability to change society?"

For businesses, DEI is not a cost, but an investment

From the perspective of talent and corporate social responsibility, some people may still ask: Why do companies do DEI? What exactly are the benefits of doing it?

"DEI is not only the implementation of corporate culture, but also an attitude of life culture," Lin Zhijie, chairman of the Financial Consumer Review Center and distinguished professor of Yangming Jiaotong University, said that DEI is by no means a cost for enterprises, but an investment, which is not a force, but a demonstration of common good.

Businesses need to understand that DEI is not a cost but an investment; Not coercion but co-good; Not only the implementation of culture, but also an attitude to life!

Chairman of the Financial Consumer Review Center Lin Zhijie

Lin Zhijie said that we must understand that in the long history of mankind, women have the right to vote only in the past 100 years, "For women, being prepared for unfair treatment is a daily reflex, but even so, it does not mean that we will continue to endure similar discrimination."

Creating change can lead to initiative and follow the legal path, but what are the ways to better accomplish the mission we want to accomplish under the premise of capitalist society?

The answer is to influence businesses: "We have to acknowledge that society is still not sufficiently inclusive of gender. But remember to speak up, we are no longer the Little Mermaid of Grimm's fairy tales, we don't need to exchange our legs with voices, and then start acting. Think in the shoes of a 'queen', you will often feel alone, but you will not feel alone. Even if we can't break the glass ceiling, at least we must make it crack." Lin Zhijie encourages all women.

The implementation of DEI requires a conscious promotion of the LLXi spirit: listen, learn, communicate, and be inclusive

But is it really that easy to break the ceiling?

Rahil Ansari, President of Taiwan Volkswagen Group and Taiwan Audi, said that for many years, the automotive industry has been regarded as a "narrow-minded" community, as if only men have a voice in this community, in order to change this stereotype in the past and join the ranks of changing the environment, Audi has also been committed to reversing the company's internal and external views through DEI in recent years, and is committed to creating a brand and community that is more in line with DEI awareness.

"What do you think is the number one reason why women don't want to enter the auto industry?" Rahil Ansari spoke with questions and prepared answers for the audience, with a personal style, and between conversations, there was charm and rhythm: "In the automotive industry, we face a challenge, which is a bit like the information industry, which is how to recruit young and talented women."

It's clear that dangerous and dirty work conditions have been the established impression of the auto industry in the past, "but that's not really the answer I want," laughs Rahil Ansari, who, according to Deloitte's Automotive News study, is the main reason why the auto industry continues to be unable to recruit female workers.

In order to solve this problem, the Volkswagen Group, led by Hildegard Wortmann, Director of Global Marketing, proposed the concept of "LLXi Spirit", which stands for the four spiritual indicators of "Listening, Learning, Communication, Inclusion", and based on this, more than 500 people from all countries and levels around the world have been convened to formulate a global development strategy for 2030, both internally and externally, Rahil Ansari believes that diversity and inclusion are the key to this overall strategy.

Giving managers at all levels in all countries a place in the development of global strategies is important for DEI implementation.

"In the daily life of Audi Taiwan, we work every day with partners of different nationalities and backgrounds from Germany, Japan, India, etc., and we look forward to the future when the automotive industry will be more diverse, inclusive, progressive and people-oriented," Rahil Ansari emphasized, adding that Audi not only sells cars, but also customer experience is its top priority, which is why DEI is important to them.

"Empathy leads to good customer service and creates memorable brand experiences; Therefore, as a global group, diversity is not an option for Audi – it is a must." Rahil Ansari mentioned.

DEI diversity and inclusion is not about political correctness, but about our choices and the way we aspire to!

Women start businesses! Let the male classmates know that you may have a female boss in the future

Going back to the issue of diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI), we are actually talking about the issue of "people", and the aspect of diversity is "diversity" itself.

Film director Ruan Jinhong is one of the influential figures, using images to record the lives of new immigrants and presenting Taiwan's diversity and sincerity.

Ji Huirong, a member of the Control Yuan, also encouraged all the audience present: "The first Diversity and Inclusion Vision Award may seem like a small step, but it is definitely a big step for Taiwan. Seeing so many cases today, I think there is hope for Taiwan!"

At the end of the ceremony, Tsai Yuling, president of the Taiwan Women Directors Association, showed the calmness, wisdom, and atmosphere of female leaders, "On behalf of the Women Directors Association, I would like to talk about it from a woman's point of view, if everyone says that 'promotion' is the most difficult ceiling for women to break through, and we, the group of people who break through the ceiling, what else can we do in the DEI matter?"

Talking about the female boss, Cai Yuling is not humble or arrogant, with her unique aura, confidently said: "If your boss is a woman, relatively many things have been solved," she laughed and said, women are the masters of the house, is the best way to solve the salary inequality, not satisfied with the salary paid by others, then we ourselves should be the salaried people, always okay?

Women who broke through the ceiling, turned from the top down, began to remove discrimination, helped more people overcome prejudice, and then stood up, "Why did we walk into the campus? In order to let female students see more examples; At the same time, we also want to let the male students know that you may have a female boss in the future."

Creating a model, breaking through existing thinking, and finding a breakthrough in the framework is the meaning, goal and hope of DEI, and the so-called diversity is to let more ethnic groups pursue life, practice themselves, and dream more courageously.

Yu Xiuzhi, director of Taiwan Equal Rights Connection for Women with Disabilities, said, "We also continue to hope that the future of people with disabilities can not only stay at home, but also need interpersonal communication, interaction with colleagues in the pantry, and celebration in the pub after work, which are all very important parts of work and life."

In a diverse and inclusive environment, the use of technology can enable different ethnic groups to work together, and when people with disabilities cannot go out, technology can also be used to solve problems.

With an appeal and expectation, it is the beginning.

The 2022 First Women's Fan Diversity and Inclusion Vision Award aims to sound a gun, so that the initiative crosses the sky, it is no longer just a simple slogan, it will call on more enterprises to participate, promote and practice, as enterprise founders, leaders, managers, through changing the enterprise to change employee awareness and behavior, and then change the family, the family affects the next generation, seemingly small steps, but in fact a big step to explore.

As for how to create a diverse, equal and inclusive workplace, society and environment, enterprises continue to explore, and women's fans will continue to serve as a bridge to connect the ecosystem and a platform to support change, leading by example, and working with enterprises to move towards a better future.
