The jury emphasized that the promotion of diversity, equity and inclusion has gradually become the core force of workplace culture change in Taiwan, and hopes that enterprises will continue to improve and work together to promote the positive progress of the workplace DEI environment. Observing this year's awardees, the jury noted that Taiwan companies have shown significant progress in promoting diversity and inclusion (DEI) policies, especially in the area of generational inclusion, and the gradual institutionalization of policies for middle-aged and elderly people and silver-haired people, demonstrating the company's attention to the needs of different generations. On the whole, foreign companies have achieved remarkable results in promoting DEI policies in localization, even exceeding the standards of their parent companies, setting an example for the industry. Local enterprises have shown a high degree of professionalism in the preparation of sustainability reports, and have room for innovation in the practice of DEI, looking forward to more breakthroughs and highlights in the future.

The Era of Great Sustainability: A New Trend of DEI Driven by Technology

With the advent of the technology era, digital transformation and the rapid development of AI technologies have not only changed the way businesses operate, but also accelerated the pace of DEI promotion. Professor Xie Yingzhe of the Institute of Science and Technology Management of National Tsing Hua University shared his academic observations on future trends, "Now is the era of great sustainability, leading us to a different world." In the past, when companies talked about ESG (Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance), they tended to focus more on environmental protection reforms, but in the future, the trend will gradually shift to emphasize Social, that is, whether companies provide fair resources and support for talents, consider individual differences, and promote more inclusive policies.

Advances in technology have helped to move DEI from the underrepresented community, but it also brings new challenges that require companies to rethink how they create more equitable opportunities and social value. Jacy Cai, Chairman of the Asian Fintech Alliance, pointed out from a forward-looking perspective that in the era of technology where the line between virtual and real is becoming more and more blurred, redefining the weakness in the virtual world and how to define fairness and justice in the virtual world are issues that need to be paid attention to. She also reminded that "to achieve DEI in technology, those who create new technologies must consider the value of inclusion, which is a responsibility from the bottom of our hearts."

Step-by-step DEI: High-level buy-in and data-driven are key

The successful implementation of the Diversity and Inclusion (DEI) policy requires the active involvement of the board of directors and senior management. Data-driven management is key. Demonstrating DEI performance, cost-effectiveness, and feedback results through specific quantitative metrics can enhance persuasiveness and promote the participation of senior decision-makers. Zhou Changxiang, General Manager of Ruizhe Management Consulting Co., Ltd., emphasized that TISFD (The Taskforce on Inequality and Social-related Financial Disclosures) will become the future trend of corporate DEI and establish a more comprehensive social responsibility disclosure framework.
